Shadow Boxing

Shapeshifter, you have followed me
like God’s shadow,
a traumatic reminder that something more perfect exists,
but only through persistent evidence of its absence,
memorialized in a shimmer of weight and the gravitas of light.

I was unfazed when you intercepted phone calls,
evicted self-awareness from unsuspecting hosts,
and bullied spiritually pubescent souls still learning energetic hygiene.

I saw you then, and I see you now,
not as unloved, unreconciled contrast,
but as jealous anti-matter loathing,
particle and wave.

And I shall give you unconditional love,
like the crushing void of the womb
of space, devoid of sound and sparsely peppered in light.

You backwards thing,
may you un-become into something useful,
something better.
May you be host to your own un-hosted self

and consume your own nothingness
until monolithic existence you become again,
abyss black, stoic, rectangular,
and then resourced,
and then gone.

Amen & Ashe
